Toy Nostalgia Part 2

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

It’s once again time to delve into the box of goodies known as “that pile of crap still left in the shed” and see what else I got. There are still a ton of toys, so here’s what I brought back this week.

It's either the Thriller, or the Time Warp.

Toy Nostalgia Part 1

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

As I delve deeply into my quest of regaining my pride as a Mega Man enthusiast, looking to gather as much as I can to fill my collection, I found myself venturing back to my parents’ home, where my mother enthusiastically complied to me rummaging through the shed of my old toy collection and organizing the PLETHORA of 80′s and 90′s toys. I found myself taking a few home as, both for nostalgia and collective purposes. I figure (figure, get it?… nevermind) it’d be fun to share a bit of these items with you. Care to take a peek?

"Leave no stone unturned gentlemen, this is a serious mystery"

Figure Collected – Dr. Nefarious

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

WOW! I was so excited when I spotted this at the nearby collectors store. I didn’t even know these were coming, but the Ratchet & Clank figures are pretty sweet. Dr. nefarious being my all time favorite video game villain. I only spotted four figures, and two of them were Ratchet variants (which made him look like he had some sort of beard) and although I did like the Captain Quark figure, one was enough for me. So here he is! in all his glory. Only thing is, I wish that he had a working radio that played dramas.

Yes, that is a photo that I took of the figure I purchased.

Artbook of the Week – Master Artworks: Metal Gear Solid 4

Monday, February 1st, 2010

I was both surprised and not surprised when they released an artbook for the fourth (and possibly final) game of the MG:Solid Series. Here it is, in all its mighty glory. The book hosts a big collection of sketches and official art by none other than Yoji Shinkawa, who has a POWERFUL sense of the brush. Takayuki Yanase also has GREAT mechanical work, which includes pieces for all the Metal Gears in the series. What I love about these kind of books are the attention to details on every character and vehicle.

Though I missed out on the Art collection book for Metal Gear Solid 2, and I highly doubt there is one for the third game, I was hoping that at least they’d add in some love for the PSP Ac!d series, but beggars can’t be choosers. But to be fair, it’s supposed to focus on the 4th game. I just want some artistic love for the Cobra Unit Members. Below are some pages I’ve managed to scan to give you an idea.

War for Cybertron – Bumblebee figure revealed

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Robots are probably one of my favorite subjects to draw and read about, and since I’ve gotten into the Transformers line, I can’t help but be a nerd when it comes to their newer toys and figures (Universe, Movie, Titanium. Not so much their first lines like Generation 1 ,etc.) This upcoming line for the excite-worthy video game, War for Cybertron, has designs that are just simply fantastic in my opinion. Just check out Bumblebee (…Probably my least favorite character, but WOW, check it out:)

There’s also a beta figure of Optimus flyin’ around but I couldn’t find him to show off. If you haven’t seen the trailer for War for Cybertron, get ready to drool over roboty goodness.
